Highlights

A hike like no other! Warm sunny day with some snow melt and it's about time! We got to see ice climbers climbing the waterfall in their underwear. Yes, you read it correctly, in their underwear, to raise money for cancer. It was a very random encounter and shocking when you notice that there wasn't just 1 person in their underwear, there were many. It was only when I looked it up at home that I figured out what it was truly about, which was heartwarming to say the least. We continued the hike in awe at the magnificent mountains and rock face that surrounded us. We crossed running creeks with no accidents, finding our way almost to the top. Troy wanted to put his gators on to prevent snow from going into his boots. While he was doing this, our dog Duke got aggravated at something off in the distance, we decided that it was time to head back. We grabbed our stuff and down the mountain we went.

Just as we were almost to the car, so happy to be almost done, as we were getting hungry and didn't believe that bringing food is a great idea while we hike until we get our bear safe canister, my husband realized that he lost his cell phone. We decided to eat before we re-hike the entire hike, but realized that we forgot our food at home! Luckily, our boys had gummies to give us to hold us over. They decided to stay in the car, not interested in a re-do. Great news, we found the phone at the point where our dog got upset, the top. As we were almost to the phone, we heard this very loud sound and at first I thought maybe a bear or rocks were falling, but we realized that it was a very big avalanche. We decided we needed to get back as fast as we could, our first time on the hike took us 2 hours and the second time was 1 hour. Now that is booking it!

Final Thoughts

Would we do this one again? Abso-freakin-lutely! It's so surreal how beautiful the scenery is and the hike was challenging. A must for sure, just maybe, better planned lol!
